Rocky Road Racing Kicks Off the New Season with a New Name

Shillington, PA - Don, Keith, and Matt Kennedy, all three members of Rocky Road Racing (formerly 3 Stooges Racing) will be competing for the first time in 2002 this weekend, just not at the same event. Team owner Don will be driving the team's Steve Moyer Subaru, KAM Specialties 1996 Subaru Impreza at the Sno*Drift ProRally in Atlanta, MI this weekend, with son Keith along side of him assuming the role of navigator.

With the absence of the Maine Forest Winter Rally, the Sno*Drift ProRally is the only winter event left on the SCCA ProRally calender. Don reflected “I’ve competed in most of the Winter Maine rallies, always as a navigator. This will be my first winter event as a driver, it’ll be an experience.” Add to that temperatures in the 40's and rain in the forecast for parts of this week, and this year’s event is shaping to be quite the guessing game.

Navigator Keith added that “this event will be a real learning experience. Snow has the ability to humble the best drivers, and turn relative unknowns into stars.” That being said, the AWD system that Subaru builds into every one of the cars it sells will definitely be an advantage for the Rocky Road Racing team that many of the other teams don’t have. “At least with the snow banks (hopefully) lining the sides of the road, the odds of us crumpling any sheet metal at this event are pretty low!”

Meanwhile, several hundred miles away, Keith’s older brother Matt will be competing with his 1991 Subaru Legacy daily-driver in the RallyCross at the Team O’Neil Rally School, just outside Littleton, NH. “So far I’ve had a lot of success with my car, despite competing against people with much newer, or more powerful cars.” Living in New England, Matt gets plenty of chances to experience winter driving, but this will be his first time actually competing in such slippery conditions.

In addition to the new name, the team has a new address for its web site: www.RockyRoadRacing.com . Though the site is still in transition, you can still find out basic information about the team, the car, their sponsors, as well as a number of photographs from various events the team has competed in over the years. You can find more information about this weekend’s events at their official web sites: www.sno-drift.org , and www.teamoneil.com.
